Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from Piastri by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the escape zone, and was lucky to avoid just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the high-speed corner before the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in P19, one place behind teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's car in third, 0.619secs off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
