Despite embarking on their first-ever European adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Missing key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a place in the Conference League qualifying rounds.
Another three points in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to seal direct entry to the knockout stages, particularly after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Moment
This match offered a platform for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to impress. Christantus Uche, making only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, finding the net for the second game in succession.
A Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were no match even for a mostly second-string Palace outfit. The Londoners were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.
Control Asserted from the Start
Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple finish.
Midfielder Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the referee waved away the appeals.
The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to find his goal, prodding home from close range after Uche's shot had hit the post.

The contest was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past some comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche also blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
